It is cold, it is dreary and all you and your partner want to do is stay inside. I totally get it; I am there too! Dating in every other season seems to be full of opportunity. The weather is typically nice & communities are bustling with activities that are sure to be loads of fun. At times, it feels winter date ideas are hard to come by. There isn’t much to do and, once the holidays are over, the freezing temperatures set in. Today, let’s talk about how we can have some fantastic times during one of the hardest seasons.
Have warm drinks by a fireplace or bonfire
What better way to spend those long nights than cozied up with your sweetheart sipping on mulled wine or cider? Use this opportunity to engage in quality conversation or exchange saucy looks over the rim of your wine glass. Who knows where the night might lead but, one things for sure, you’ll be feeling hot either way.

Visit a Bookstore
Grab some coffee and head to your local bookstore for guaranteed fun and laughter. Pick out 1-2 books you’d highly recommend for each other. Roam the shelves for some spicy titles and only read the first chapter then, give each other the cliff notes. You can even leave notes to strangers inside your favorite books.
Movie Marathon
Who can pass up the chance to dive into a good movie to forget the feet of snow outside? Movie marathons are perfect winter dates because they encourage snacking & snuggling. They are also a great opportunity to share your personal favorite movies with your partner.
In our house, we take turns choosing the theme or series we will watch. Let your choices guide your movie & drink menu to make it a whole experience.
My Favorite Winter Date Movies
- The Holiday (2006)
- While You Were Sleeping (1995)
- Little Women (2019)
- Any Harry Potter (2001-2011)
Work On A Home Project
Home projects might not seem like great dating opportunities but they are certainly fantastic ways to spend time together and, in the winter, they make a lot of sense. You don’t even have to do something as large as a renovation either. Create a new piece of artwork or teach each other a skill that you’ve learned. If you’ve been together awhile, talk about goals, dreams & ideas for the future of your home or, if it is a new relationship, what you envision that to be with a long term partner.

Play In The Snow
I will be the first to say that snow is my least favorite. Aside from the first fall of winter, where the trees glisten and everything is white; I hate it. That is, unless I am playing in the snow with my husband.
Whether it is building a snowman or pegging each other with snowballs, put on those snow pants, thick socks & warm gloves and get out there. You may just find a new found love for the fluffy stuff and can always warm up together later!
What is your favorite winter date idea? How do you like to spend this season with your partner and what do you find the most enjoyable? Let me know in the comments!
