Congrats! You just entered, or are about to enter, the greatest, scariest, most love-filled, challenging adventure of your life; motherhood. It wasn’t too long ago, as a first-time mom, that I was in your same position. If you’re anything like I was, you’ve been scouring the internet for encouragement, inspiration, or maybe a sense that you are seen.
I gave birth less than a year after moving away from my parents, sisters and all of my close friends. Granted, I had my husband and his family, I didn’t feel like I had a community of my own. Spending any length of time in a web browser will undoubtedly supply you with a plethora of quotes but, honestly, I felt the ones I found focused so much on the child and not on the mother herself. Now that my daughter is turning 5, I can see how I needed something more along these lines.
